Ready for an Awesome Year at Ames

They may only be there for one year, but students entering Massapequa High School’s Ames Campus are looking to make it a memorable one. The incoming ninth graders learned about the many opportunities they will have as they begin their high school careers during orientation on Aug. 29.

Danielle Kennedy, the executive assistant to the principal, said ninth grade is an important year because all courses help them fulfill graduation requirements and prepare them for the future. She encouraged students to get involved beyond the school day by taking part in extracurricular activities, which are available at both Ames and the high school’s main campus.

“We hope that you will take advantage of all of the opportunities we have in order to make this an exceptional year,” she said.

After a short presentation, students were then allowed to explore the building. With the schedules and maps in hand, they traversed the school to find their classes for the upcoming year. Several teachers were available to greet their future students and help them navigate the halls.
