Trash proved to be musical treasure at East Lake Elementary School. Students in kindergarten through third grade attended the Bash the Trash assembly on April 18 in which they learned how to reuse household items to create beautifully sounding instruments.
Children celebrated Earth Day by learning about this new and creative recycling opportunity. Performers from Bash the Trash combined music, science and environmental awareness as they showed how objects such as aluminum cans, hoses, plastic bottles and wooden boards can be turned into functional instruments. They showed off their percussion, string and woodwind creations.
The environmental arts educators reminded students that Earth Day shouldn’t be celebrated just one day a year and that they should do their part all the time to keep the planet clean and green.
