Two student musicians in the district received scholarships from the Long Island String Festival Association, which were used to further develop their musical abilities.
The scholarship allowed Adriana K., a 10th grader at Massapequa High School, to take additional private cello lessons. She began learning the instrument as a fourth grader at Unqua Elementary School and continued on with instruction in middle school and high school. This year, her teacher is Marjorie Spagnuolo.
Her favorite music to play is pop and classical Sonatas and Concertos. Outside of school, Adriana is a member of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra’s Nassau Symphony Orchestra, which rehearses at Herricks High School.
