Family is an important component of the fifth grade Spanish curriculum in Massapequa and students at Unqua Elementary School recently reviewed for their final project. To wrap up the year, each student will create a family album in which they will write about family members and create illustrations.
Third, fourth and fifth graders receive Spanish instruction twice a week through the district’s Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools program. FLES teacher Luisa Marino led students in an interactive question game in which they practiced Spanish words and phrases for different family relationships along with clothing, personality traits and physical characteristics.
Students traveled around the room and asked each other different questions, trading cards at the end, with the goal of collecting as many cards as possible by the end of the activity.
