Unqua Students Say ‘YES’ to Giving

t The mitten tree at Unqua Elementary School has been filling up throughout December. The student council is collecting gloves, hats, scarves and other winter accessories for its annual holiday drive.

Donations are being accepted through Dec. 21 and will be given the YES Community Counseling Center in Massapequa. The items will be available at its outreach center throughout the winter for those in need. Student Council members made fliers that were hung around the school to promote the drive and also wrote a letter to Unqua families.

The mitten drive was in addition to the Student Council’s holiday food collection. Supporting the effort were social worker Toni Lyn Hanzich and student council advisers Leanne Leder and Deanna Musacchia.

“The Unqua Elementary School community is always go generous,” Ms. Musacchia said.
