Fourth Graders Participate in an In-House Field Trip
Fourth grade classes at Unqua Elementary School participated in an in – house field trip. The Journeys program allowed students to experience Native American games, storytelling, artifacts and crafts firsthand. Students enjoyed the opportunity to “tour” a model of an Iroquois longhouse and participate in games that Iroquois children would have played. The day culminated with an activity that allowed students further insight into Native American government and an art project in which students created their own pinch pots make out of clay. The activities provided students with wonderful experiences that highlighted all that they have been learning about the Native Americans.
