First graders found themselves in a sticky situation the day before spring break at McKenna Elementary School, but in the name of science, they persevered.
Taking advantage of the nice weather, students went outside for some springtime fun. For the first activity, they learned how to make slime. They mixed glue, water, baking soda and contact solution, then added in colorful glitter. Children could take their slime home as a memento of their successful scientific endeavor.
Other activities included an egg hunt, buddy reading with spring-themed books and a paint craft using Peeps.
