Fifth-graders in Mary Ellen Scheffler’s class at McKenna Elementary School recently learned about famous explorers from France and Spain. It was part of the social studies lesson on the influence of European explorers in the Western Hemisphere, and also connected to their biographies unit in English language arts.
Students did research using books in the library and online resources, then made Google Slide presentations on their Chromebooks. They learned that many of the explorers did not end up where they initially intended, instead discovering new land. Each group shared its digital presentation for the class.
