All of the kindergarten students of McKenna Elementary have been learning about the voyage of the Mayflower and the early lives of the Pilgrims and Native Americans. They learned that the Native Americans introduced us to corn and that it can be used in so many yummy ways. The students churned milk into butter and enjoyed it with cornbread. They celebrated kindergarten friendships, while working on turkey-feather math with a partner to experience how the Pilgrims and the Native Americans worked together. After discussing the Pilgrim's journey across the ocean, students built and ate the Mayflower!
