The Circus Runs Away to Fairfield
Fifth graders at Fairfield Elementary School learned some simple tricks to dazzle an audience during a weeklong circus arts experience in late October.
Students worked with Mr. Rich and Ms. Pat from the National Circus Project. During the first two days, they saw demonstrations of different tricks such as flower stick balancing, plate spinning, stilt walking, yo-yo tossing and juggling. After that, each fifth grader picked one of those tricks to master over the rest of the week.
After students perfected their acts, they performed at daytime assembly for Fairfield kindergartners, first and second graders, followed by an evening showcase for their families at Berner Middle School.
Students in grades K-4 also got to explore the different tricks during their physical education classes. The circus experience was sponsored by the PTA’s Arts in Education committee.
