Fire Safety Presentation

Birch Lane kindergarten, first and second grade students had the opportunity to learn about fire safety from members of the Massapequa Fire Department.  The students were taught the importance of having smoke detectors in their home, which can alert their families in case of a fire.  They also discussed creating escape plans that include a designated meeting place outside, so all family members know where to go during an emergency.  Several students were chosen to show their classmates how to stop, drop and roll which is an important technique should clothes catch on fire. To make this assembly more memorable, two teachers were given the opportunity to dress in firefighter gear to show the students how a firefighter may look when they are helping them in a fire emergency.  Thank you to the Massapequa Fire Department for helping our students understand the importance of fire safety.
