The Golden Spatula is a coveted award at Birch Lane Elementary School. One class per grade level receives the award each month for displaying good citizenship during lunchtime.
Through the program, students learn respect for each other, the staff and the school community. The Golden Spatula recognizes positive behavioral traits such as courtesy and helpfulness. Classes can earn stars when students clean their lunch tables, raise their hands, wait on line quietly when the teacher gives instructions, walk to recess and walk to their first activity at recess.
