Berner’s seventh grade health classes were privileged to have Frank, a local resident, speak to them about his journey as a smoker. He explained that his journey began as an adolescent trying a cigarette for the first time through his bouts of lung and esophageal cancer that resulted from his decades-long smoking habit. Frank had his voice box surgically removed and “speaks” through an assistive digital speech aid. “Frank has been faithfully visiting the health classes for 15 years and has touched many young lives. The classes are always a fascinated audience as they lend an ear to Frank’s mesmerizing story," said Health Teacher Luana Dunn.
