October 7, 2024 - UPDATE FROM DR. BRENNAN

  • Dear Massapequa School District Families, Staff and Community Members,

As I reflect on my three years with the Massapequa School District, I am reminded of the importance of listening, learning, and collaborating with each of you. From the moment I arrived, I prioritized spending time in classrooms, engaging with our teachers and students, and working closely with my leadership team and the Board of Education. Together, we focused on defining what we now call the “Massapequa Experience” – an education rooted in academic excellence, innovation, and a deep sense of community.

After countless conversations, classroom visits, and thoughtful exchanges, I am thrilled to announce that at the September 12th Board of Education meeting, my team and I unveiled a community inspired vision for Massapequa’s future. And last Thursday evening, the Board officially adopted our new vision, mission, and Profile of a Massapequa Learner and Leader!

This marks the culmination of extensive work across our district. Your voices have been instrumental throughout this journey, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who provided feedback, especially through last year’s ThoughtExchange. Your insights have been invaluable in shaping a future that we believe will guide our district and ensure we are preparing our students for success in a rapidly changing world.

The Profile of a Massapequa Learner and Leader represents our vision to provide a rigorous education that fosters critical thinking, character, leadership, confidence and resilience. As we look ahead, our focus is clear: We will continue to work together building a community of learners and leaders, one child at a time.

I am incredibly excited for what lies ahead and for the opportunities that await our students. Thank you for your steadfast partnership and support as we move ahead, developing leaders and shaping the future!

    MSD Vision and Mission

    Sincerely,

    William Brennan, Ed.D.

I wanted to send a quick reminder that our Portrait of a Massapequa Graduate ThoughtExchange is still open, but only for two more days. This exchange will close on Friday, May 3rd at 6pm.

I just posted a new video reminder located at www.youtube.com/massapequaps and wanted to invite you one last time to revisit the exchange and offer your final thoughts and ratings -

Can you believe we are now at 3,747 participants, with 3,330 thoughts shared and nearly 87,000 ratings!!! I've got a little challenge for us - can we aim to break the impressive milestone of over 100,000 ratings together?

Once again, a huge thank you for your time, your insightful contributions, and your unwavering commitment to our mission.

    Sincerely,

     WB

4/18/24 - Update from Dr. Brennan

  • To our Massapequa Family,

WOW! We're thrilled by the incredible engagement in our Portrait of a Massapequa Graduate ThoughtExchange! In just one week, we've already had over 1,700 participants and received a whopping 32,000 ratings.

But guess what? Our journey is only just beginning! I wanted to share three quick suggestions on how you can get involved:

    1. Jump In: Haven't shared your thoughts yet? Now's the perfect time! Whether you have one idea or many, we want to hear from you. And don't forget to let us know which thoughts resonate with you the most by rating them.

    2. Come Back: Already contributed? Fantastic! Feel free to dive back in anytime to add new ideas or show your support for the ones you love. Your continued engagement is crucial to shaping our students' future.

    3. Engage Together: Why not make it a family affair? Take a moment to chat with your child about the qualities and skills they think are important for graduates. Then, hop on the ThoughtExchange together to share your insights and rate others' thoughts.

Question: What are the qualities and skills our students should have when they graduate from the Massapequa School District to become capable, creative and responsible members of our society?

This collaboration offers us the opportunity to build on the Massapequa experience by harnessing the collective wisdom, values, and innovation to shape the future of our schools.

To get a comprehensive understanding of our objectives and how you can dive in, I encourage you to watch the video outlining the purpose and significance of this endeavor. You'll find one version tailored for adults, and I couldn't resist adding a touch of fun with a student edition!

I'm thrilled about the potential ahead and the positive impact on our students and community. Your involvement is absolutely crucial, so I urge you to join us in shaping the future of Massapequa Schools. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to excellence.

Let's embark on this journey together, united in our vision for the future.

    • Please include if your thoughts are a strength or an opportunity for growth.
    • Please be polite and respectful as you share and rate thoughts.
    • You will see and rate thoughts that others have shared. 5 stars = strongly agree, 1 star = strongly disagree.
