Welcome to Unqua Elementary
Learners Today...Leaders Tomorrow
Unqua Elementary School, built in 1952, has a long and proud heritage of educational excellence. Its warm, friendly, nurturing environment affords our approximately 550 students from kindergarten through grade five an opportunity to be successful. We believe in time-honored values that encourage the development of all aspects of every child, not just academics. At the same time, we are committed to the most sophisticated technology available to enrich the curriculum and prepare each child to be a well-educated, thoughtful, caring, and successful citizen of the world.
The Unqua staff is a wonderful blend of youthful, energetic enthusiasm and the richness of experience. They believe in the fundamental principle that all children can and should be challenged to realize their fullest potential. They are dedicated, conscientious, diligent, compassionate, and extraordinarily committed to achieving excellence. Unqua teachers pride themselves on being able to satisfy the complex requirements of today’s world of high stakes testing without losing sight of the fact that they teach children.
Supporting this outstanding staff is an equally outstanding PTA. The Unqua parents work tirelessly to provide the kind of encouragement and assistance that only exceptional parents can offer. At Unqua, parents are equal partners in the education of the children. This year’s PTA Executive Board, led by its Co-Presidents, Mrs. Yvette Scannapieco and Mrs. Cindi St. George, have continued the longstanding Unqua tradition of going far beyond the routine in order to achieve truly superior results.
Unqua’s motto, “Learners Today, Leaders Tomorrow,” truly guides our beliefs and dedication to the students, parents and community of Massapequa as we strive for excellence.
