Social & Emotional Resources

  • The school psychologist and social workers at Lockhart school strive to help children succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. They work collaboratively with educators, parents, and the community to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment for all students.

The School Social Worker at Raymond J. Lockhart Elementary School, assists students who may be struggling with a variety of clinical issues; ranging from social skills, divorce, bereavement, anxiety, peer relations and more.  In addition to individual and group counseling, the social work department provides in class presentations such as Too Good For Drugs ( a life skills program), a Body Rights Program, as well as additional presentations on various social issues when requested. The programs and services provided are developed by taking a holistic approach to the assessment of each student’s needs and developmental age. The Social Work Department strives to use a collaborative approach when working with families and educators to provide support for students socially, emotionally and academically.  In addition, the after school SADD (Student’s Against Destructive Decisions) Club is facilitated by the Social Work Department as well as a variety of community outreach initiatives throughout the year. It is a pleasure to work within the Massapequa Community and at RJ Lockhart Elementary School.
