Welcome to Lockhart Elementary
Courage, Character, Charity, Community
Raymond J. Lockhart Elementary School is a vibrant learning community of inquiring young minds and passionate educators. Our school values - Courage; Character; Charity; Community - are taught, reinforced and expected behaviors within our school-learning environment. Since students are our only focus, our school staff have high expectations for their achievement.
All teachers utilize current technology that complements contemporary key teaching strategies. They strive to provide students with the tools to enhance and redefine the learning that occurs in our classrooms. Our students are stimulated through learning experiences that involve problem solving and exploration. Our teachers regularly provide student-centered learning and support as well as provide for both current and future needs.
Students regularly enjoy a one-to-one computer environment to support targeted learning enrichment in their respective classrooms and our teachers utilize interactive whiteboards that are in place in all classrooms to support the delivery of curriculum. The school is networked with all children having weekly lessons in the computer lab and library.
Children with special needs have their learning supported with appropriate staff and resources. Lockhart School provides extra help sessions for all students and various clubs/activities are offered throughout the school year. All of our teaching staff receive regular professional development to meet current student needs. We also work with external specialists where required to meet individual needs.
In addition to our core curriculum, students receive specialized instruction in physical education, art and music. Extracurricular clubs for drama, music, and more are also offered. It is our goal to maximize student learning and to instill in them a desire to excel.
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education. Martin Luther King, Jr.
