Sexual Harassment and Title IX Regulations

The Massapequa School District's Sexual Harassment and Title IX regulations are intended to create and preserve a working environment free from unlawful sexual harassment on the basis of sex, gender, and/or sexual orientation in furtherance of the district's commitment to provide a healthy and productive environment for all students, employees (including all staff, applicants for employment, both paid and unpaid interns, exempt and non-exempt status, part-time, seasonal, and temporary workers, regardless of immigration status) and "nonemployees" (i.e., contractors, subcontractors, vendors, consultant and other persons providing services pursuant to a contract, or their employees) that promotes respect, dignity and equality.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT COMPLAINTSexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination and is unlawful under federal, state, and (where applicable) local law. Sexual harassment includes harassment on the basis of actual or perceived or self-identified sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and transgender status.TITLE IX COMPLAINTTitle IX prohibits various types of sex discrimination including, but not limited to: the failure to provide equal athletic opportunity; sex-based discrimination in a District’s science, technology, engineering, and math courses and programs; and discrimination based on pregnancy.If an employee believes he/she has been subjected to sexual harassment or sex discrimination, he/she is encouraged to submit a complaint. Upon submission, the complaint will be forwarded to the employee's Building Principal or the District's Title IX Coordinator. The employee will not be retaliated against for filing a complaint.If a student believes he/she has been subjected to sexual harassment or sex discrimination, he/she is encouraged to submit a complaint. Upon submission, the complaint will be forwarded to the Principal of the student’s school, and investigated in accordance with the District’s Sexual Harassment and Dignity for All Students (DASA) policies.
