3/18/24 - Superintendent Reminder

  • Dear Parents/Guardians of MSD,

We're absolutely thrilled about our upcoming Massapequa School District Parent University, set to take place this Wednesday, March 20th, at 6:30 PM in Berner Middle School. It's shaping up to be an incredible opportunity for parents and educators alike to come together for an enriching evening of learning and forging connections.

Remember when we reached out to you via ThoughtExchange back in November? We wanted to know what topics mattered most to you as parents, and your responses have truly shaped the workshops we're offering. From social emotional development to mental health and wellness, social media, technology, and beyond, we've crafted a lineup that reflects your interests and concerns. You can explore the full list of workshops over at www.msd.k12.ny.us/parentuniversity.

Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to a diverse range of opportunities for success, and these workshops are a key part of bridging the gap between school and home. They're a chance for you to delve deeper into the programs available and to strengthen the connection between what happens in the classroom and what happens at home.

If you haven't had a chance to check out the workshop descriptions or register yet, we encourage you to do so at www.msd.k12.ny.us/parentuniversity. We'd love to have you and a friend join us! So mark your calendars, spread the word, and let's make this Parent University event one to remember. Looking forward to seeing you there!

    Sincerely,

    Dr. William Brennan

    Superintendent of Schools

11/27/23: Introduction and ThoughtExchange

  • Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to announce Massapequa School District Parent University, which is a wonderful new opportunity for parents and educators to come together for an evening of learning and connecting. The aim of the Parent University is to strengthen a bridge between home and school in the development of our children. It truly takes a village.

The Parent University will be designed in a workshop format with a variety of course offerings. Parents/guardians will choose courses based on interest or need and will receive information and resources. In addition, there will be the opportunity for discourse and discussion during the event.

To help gauge the level of interest and to determine the programming, we are inviting parents/guardians to visit the following link and participate in a ThoughtExchange by December 1: ThoughtExchange Link

“As we prepare to develop Parent University, which workshop topics would you be most interested in learning more about as a parent?”

[Reminder: After you answer and rate thoughts, we invite you to come back often until December 1 to rate new ideas.]

    Quick-tips:

    • This Exchange is confidential. Your thoughts will be shared with other participants, but not your identity.
    • Please include if your thoughts are a strength or an opportunity for growth.
    • Please be polite and respectful as you share and rate thoughts.
    • You will see and rate thoughts that others have shared. 5 stars = strongly agree, 1 star = strongly disagree.
    • You do not need to rate all thoughts, though it's recommended to rate at least 20.
    • After you answer and rate thoughts, we invite you to come back often until December 1 to rate new ideas.

After this exchange closes on December 1, the Parent University program will be developed and communicated back to the community. We are excited to jumpstart this event in Massapequa.

    Thank you for your support.

    Sincerely,

    WB
