Parent/Guardian Emails and Texts

  • Our District email and text communication tool, Blackboard ParentLink, syncs with the email and cell phone # information located in our Student Information System, PowerSchool.  The communication tool is used to send district and building information via email and text. It is also used to inform parents/guardians of in-district students on regularly scheduled bus routes with important announcements and delays expected to be over fifteen minutes.  

    Parent Support: If you need to update an email address or cell phone #:

    • Please contact your school’s General Office and ask to speak with the building registrar.

    Parent Support: If you are not receiving emails, please do the following:

    1. Check your spam/junk folder and add no-reply@msd.k12.ny.us to your safe-senders list.
    2. Contact your school's registrar to verify the email address we have on file in PowerSchool.
    3. If correct, it is possible your provider (E.g. Optimum, AOL, etc.) is blocking or delaying emails from the Blackboard Parentlink system.
    4. If blocked, please contact your provider to share the issue with your email address or contact the building registrar to update your email address to a different provider. 

    Parent Support: If you are not receiving text messages, please do the following:

    1. Check your cell phone settings and confirm that the number the texts are coming from has not been blocked
    2. Contact your school's registrar to verify the cell phone # we have on file in PowerSchool.
    3. If correct, please email powerschool@msd.k12.ny.us so that the MSD PowerSchool team can review your account in Parent Link.

Private/Parochial Transportation Emails

  • Our transportation email communication tool, Routefinder Pro, is used to inform the parents/guardians of private/parochial students on regularly scheduled bus routes with important announcements and delays expected to be over fifteen minutes.

    Parent Support: If you need to update an email address or cell phone #:

    Parent Support: If you are not receiving emails, please do the following:

    1. Check your spam/junk folder and add no-reply@msd.k12.ny.us to your safe-senders list
    2. Email powerschool@msd.k12.ny.us to verify the email address on file in PowerSchool
    3. If the email on record is correct, it is possible your provider is blocking or delaying emails from the Routefinder Pro system
    4. If blocked, please contact your provider to share the issue with your email address or contact Karen Jones as noted above to update your email address to a different provider

Community Emails

  • Community Member Emails: Parents/guardians will receive these emails on their school email list(s), so they do not have to subscribe.

    Community members, please visit our Community Email Subscriptions page located on our Community drop-down to subscribe to Community emails, which includes BOE, community activities, and school closure/delay emails. After, you will be prompted in your email to "Verify your Blackboard account" by clicking on the link. If you would like to be removed from email communications, please click on the unsubscribe link in the email footer.

    Community Support: If you are not receiving emails, please do the following, in this sequence:

    1. Check your spam/junk folder and add no-reply@msd.k12.ny.us to your safe-senders list.
    2. If you continue to have issues, please re-subscribe. 
    3. If you continue to have issues after you re-subscribe, it is possible your provider is blocking or delaying emails sent from the Blackboard Parentlink system.
    4. If blocked, please contact your provider to share the issue with your email address or re-subscribe using a different email address/provider.
