3/9/22 District Email
Dear School Community,
We recently shared that our current Learning Management System (LMS), PowerSchool Learning, will not be available in the 2022-23 school year. We also sent informational emails to all stakeholders and Nassau County school districts asking for input/feedback and created a committee of educators, students and parents.
In summary, the goals and outcomes of the district committee were:
- Review input from all stakeholders to identify two platforms and create LMS review criteria
- Two Platforms: PowerSchool Schoology, Google Classroom
- Review Criteria: User-friendliness, Communication and Calendar, Google Workspace Integration, Assignments and Assessments, Gradebook
- Participate in LMS presentations
- Participate in elementary, middle and high school pilot-feedback meetings, which included student and parent input
- Use review criteria to make a LMS recommendation to the Superintendent of Schools
- Committee Recommendation: PowerSchool Schoology
Based on this recommendation, the technology team is currently planning for the district transition from PowerSchool Learning to PowerSchool Schoology. We will be sharing additional information and resources in the near future!
Sincerely,
The Massapequa School District

11/2/21 District Email:
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We were recently informed by PowerSchool that our Learning Management System (LMS), PowerSchool Learning (formerly, Haiku), will not be available in the 2022-23 school year. As such, we will be exploring and transitioning to a new LMS for the new school year. (e.g. Canvas, Google Classroom, Schoology, etc.)
If you and/or your child would like to provide any input, please complete the brief parent and/or student survey located on our district website, www.msd.k12.ny.us, by Friday, November 12th. In addition to the surveys, we will be working with the General PTA and Secondary Student Advisory Council during this process. Please note, this does not impact the Student Information System (SIS), PowerSchool, and the Parent Portal.
Additional information will be shared in the coming months as we prepare for this important transition. Thank you in advance for your support with this process!
Sincerely,
The Massapequa School District
