APPR Regulation

  • During the 2014-2015 school year, the Massapequa Public Schools implemented the state approved Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) when evaluating our teachers and principals.

    A component of the APPR regulation allows parents/legal guardians of a student attending a Massapequa Public School to request the final composite effectiveness score for each teacher and the principal of the school building to which your student(s) is assigned for the current school year.

    Please review the APPR Brochure for an explanation of how a teachers/principal score were determined.

    • INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING THE COMPOSITE SCORE AND RATING FOR MY CHILD’S TEACHER(S):
      • Only the overall composite score (0-100) and rating (Highly Effective, Effective, Developing, and Ineffective) will be provided. 
      • Requests should be made directly to the building principal in writing.
      • Information will only be provided for the teacher(s) that are providing instruction to your child for the present school year.
      • Information will only be provided directly to parents and legal guardians.  Identification will be required.
      • Information will only be provided at the school using the district form (see attachment).  No information will be provided over the phone or through electronic means.
    • INSTRUCTIONS FOR OBTAINING THE COMPOSITE SCORE AND RATING FOR MY CHILD’S PRINCIPAL:
      • Only the overall composite score (0-100) and rating (Highly Effective, Effective, Developing, and Ineffective) will be provided. 
      • Requests should be made directly to the Superintendent of Schools in writing.
      • Information will only be provided for the principal of your child’s school this year.
      • Information will only be provided directly to parents and legal guardians.  Identification will be required.
      • Information will only be provided at the school using the district form (see attachment).  No information will be provided over the phone or through electronic means.

    Scores will be provided starting in mid-October after a verification process is completed.  Please note all scores and ratings are confidential.
