  • Dear Fairfield Families,

Welcome to the 2019 - 2020 school year! I am very excited to begin this year as the principal of Fairfield.  The new assistant principal, Katie Fernandez and I look forward to working with the students, teachers, staff, families and community to provide our students with the best education possible!

I hope that you have enjoyed this summer to the fullest!  I hope that you are well-rested and eager to get back to school. The entire faculty and staff have been busy preparing for the start of the school year.  The custodial staff has done a wonderful job with the physical plant – the entire building looks beautiful. The office staff has been diligent in preparing for the new students who will come before us and in preparing the behind the scenes items that help our school run efficiently. The teachers have been preparing their classrooms and their lessons to assure that the students are in a welcoming and educationally solid learning environment. We are all ready.

School opens for students in grades one through five on Thursday, September 5, 2019.  The arrival doors open promptly for the students to enter at 9:15 and remain open until 9:25.

School opens for kindergarten students on Friday, September 6, 2019.

Opening day for kindergarten will be exciting for both students and their parents!  It is important to set all of the routines in place on this first day. Our "bus" students will be greeted at the door as the bus pulls in and we will escort the students from the bus to their classrooms. Our ‘walkers" will be greeted by staff at the entrance doors and will be escorted to their rooms. The entrance for kindergarten is next to the lobby door (along the walkway).

For all grades, all Fairfield staff will be in the halls welcoming the students and guiding them to their classrooms.

Arrival procedures are instituted on the first day of school.  These procedures include adherence to the arrival times, open doors, and student entrance.  Our efforts must be focused on the calm, smooth, and safe arrival of students.

    • Parents are not permitted in the building.
    • Parents are encouraged to take those first day photos well before the doors open so that arrival may be smooth and quick.
    • From the first day, we set the procedures that will remain in place for the entire year.

It is not necessary for students to bring in all of their supplies on the first day of school. There is no reason to overload book bags on day one as students may bring in their supplies over the first few days.

Please keep the pathway leading to the kindergarten arrival doors and the front doors clear. It is important for the students to be able to walk on that path without having to navigate through adults. Parents may stand on the front lawn if they wish. Please keep the pathways, the front door, and the kindergarten steps and entrance clear.

As stated on the arrival and dismissal procedures, the arrival window will be from 9:15 to 9:25. By 9:26 students are expected to be in their classrooms and ready to start the day. Students not in classrooms at 9:27 are considered late.  Adhering to these times only benefits your child as they will start their day smoothly and without feeling harried. Late arriving students must enter the lobby doors, must sign in, and must get a late pass from the attendance office.

Please peruse the Fairfield and district website for important information about our school and the school year.  You should look at:

On behalf of Mrs. Fernandez and the entire staff of Fairfield, I welcome you to the start of the  2019 - 2020 school year.  I am sure you are as excited as we are to start this new school year!
