    Massapequa Promotes Smart Choices for AIDS Awareness Week

    Education and prevention was the mission for students from Massapequa High School’s Peer AIDS Educators club during their visits to Berner Middle School on Nov. 29 and 30. They delivered their interactive program to seventh and eighth graders during physical education classes.

    The Disney film series “Camp Rock” goes from the big screen to the stage as it will be this year’s musical production by the drama club at Berner Middle School. There will be a pair of performances on Nov. 17 and 18 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

    The Massapequa School District continues to take measures to secure its buildings, and a new safety enhancement is under way at Berner Middle School. A six-foot perimeter fence is being constructed in front of the school, along Carman Mill Road.

    About 2,000 student masterpieces were on display at the annual art exhibit at Berner Middle School on June 7. Students, their families and staff were invited to tour the gymnasium-turned-gallery that evening.
